As we look ahead to the coming year at Showplace Cabinetry, we are excited about the strength of ShowplaceEVO. Our frameless cabinet line showed the most promise last year, with excellent growth in popularity and sales—and we think 2020 will be an even better year for EVO.
Frameless cabinetry has been a trend with a long lead time. Decades ago, cabinet prognosticators predicted that the clean, modern look of frameless cabinetry would sweep North America, following generations of acceptance in Europe. During the 1980s, cabinet industry publications showed “Euro-style” cabinetry and urged everyone to get on board. A few companies tentatively tried out a frameless line, but consumers weren’t ready—until now.
The growth of ShowplaceEVO since its introduction and the construction of our frameless manufacturing plant has dramatically illustrated that the North American homeowner is ready for frameless cabinetry for kitchens and baths. The increasing popularity of EVO more than justifies our confidence in the frameless product. EVO was an investment in the taste and design savvy of the North American consumer—an investment that has paid off. ShowplaceEVO showed sales increases between 15% and 20% in 2019, and we believe that trend will continue for our frameless cabinets throughout 2020.
Showplace was unique in building a new plant dedicated to producing frameless cabinetry back in 2015 in anticipation of the trend. One of our guiding principles at Showplace is to constantly analyze home fashion, emerging color concepts and design innovation. Our growing color palette is a prime example of our determination to lead cabinetry trends, and EVO is an even stronger testimony to that commitment.
With designers, builders and, more importantly, homeowners enthusiastically embracing frameless cabinetry, ShowplaceEVO is ready for a new generation of cabinet consumers who see frameless as their preferred style. This year will see increased frameless production in the cabinet industry—and ShowplaceEVO will be even more prominent in showrooms and homes across North America.
