From Paul’s Desk
By Paul Sova, CEO Showplace Cabinetry
I recently had the good fortune to attend the Masters golf tournament and witness Tiger Woods’ triumphant return to the winner’s circle. Even if you’re not a golfer, Tiger’s victory is a solid reminder of what it takes to succeed—in business as well as on the golf course.
Woods first of all showed us the importance of perseverance, never giving up in the face of challenges and obstacles. Persistently pursuing positive goals makes us stronger. One of the things that helps us keep going is confidence. Tiger Woods believed he could win again and that confident belief in ourselves, our products and our future can drive us to great heights.
In business as in golf, it’s the little things that make the difference. Paying attention to details and consistently sharpening our game gives us the ability to successfully compete. Not wavering in the face of that competition is also a factor of success. We know we'll be playing against top-notch competitors, but the prize is still in sight.
Showplace, like all successful companies, has a strong drive for excellence. We want to be at the top of our game every day, in every project, with every customer—and we work hard to achieve excellence with everything we do. We learn from our mistakes, realizing that perfection is a lofty goal but excellence is within our grasp.
The crowd at Augusta National Golf Club wanted Tiger Woods to win. You could hear it in the roars for each incredible shot and feel the excitement as the tournament progressed. We all want to root for a winner, and successful companies, like successful athletes, who continue to compete—and win—over the course of decades are always the ones to watch.
That staying power, the ability to consistently compete against the best in any field, is a true achievement, requiring all the elements of success. And like great golfers, great companies work hard and make it happen. That's our intention every day at Showplace.
We want to be at the top of our game every day, in every project, with every customer—and we work hard to achieve excellence with everything we do.
