Designed for Togetherness
This project reimagined a familiar subdivision floorplan into something entirely new. By removing the central structure of the home, the layout was transformed into a fully open concept, creating one large, connected space where the family could truly be together.
The original design felt choppy and restrictive, especially for a large family that loves to cook and spend time in the kitchen. Opening the kitchen to both the dining and living areas allowed for generous counter space, improved flow, and a central island that naturally became the heart of the home. The new layout also revealed a stunning mountain view that had previously been hidden from the kitchen, bringing light and scenery into everyday moments.
A custom dining table crafted by the homeowner now takes center stage, visible from the moment guests walk through the front door. The kitchen design blends contemporary style with warmth through a thoughtful mix of materials, including straight grain natural cherry and weathered straight grain red oak in Midnight. The result is a one-of-a-kind kitchen that supports cooking, gathering, and connection, which is exactly as this family envisioned.
