Wide Open Spaces

This home is on a large farm with beautiful pastures and horses. The existing kitchen & family room were compartmentalized and lacked any significant views. The homeowners wanted to expand the back of the house to create a large functional space while allowing them to enjoy the surrounding landscape.

The husband is a pilot who enjoys cooking and his wife works in marketing, so they both had a vision of how the kitchen should look and function. In the end, the final design allowed a dedicated area of the kitchen as his “work space” and she was able to claim the scullery as her own.

The homeowners loved being a part of the design process and enjoy seeing their personal touches throughout the space. In addition, having an open floorplan allows them to enjoy large gatherings with family and friends. Just like being in the air or out on the farm, they truly enjoy wide open spaces.
