Modern Marvel

This kitchen transformation began with a simple dream: a large, inviting space where family and friends could gather comfortably. The original layout featured an angled peninsula, a tiny island with the cooktop, and multiple choppy walls that left the kitchen feeling dated and closed in.

To open the room and make it functional, the redesign started with the floor plan. The door to the garage was relocated, the small drywall pantry was removed, and the wall dividing the kitchen and breakfast nook was eliminated. This created a long, uninterrupted wall—perfect for the client’s wish list feature: a 48″ range top framed by a statement hood.

For cabinetry, the clients were already confident in Showplace inset, having installed it in their basement. The mix of Quartersawn Oak in Pampas with the depth of a strong dark gray paint brought warmth and contrast to the large expanse of cabinetry. Paneled appliances allow the wall of pantries and the refrigerator to read as one continuous, stunning display of natural wood grain. Floating shelves near the breakfast bar add visual interest and keep the space feeling light.

Thoughtful features were incorporated throughout: pullouts beside the range top, an X-detail on the island, and a pocket-door cabinet for the coffee maker. Paired with White Macabus quartzite countertops and a soft hand-glazed ceramic backsplash, the finished kitchen is modern, rich, and beautifully cohesive.
