Rustic Done Right
This kitchen renovation began with a near-total reset: everything was removed except the ceiling, the one original element the homeowners wanted to preserve. Located just outside of town in Montana, the design needed to reflect a rustic aesthetic without feeling heavy or closed in, especially given the existing galley-style layout.
To maximize both storage and visual height, the cabinetry was taken all the way to the ceiling, helping the space feel taller and more open. Careful planning also led to a smarter appliance layout; relocating the refrigerator and wall ovens eliminated a potential bottleneck near the peninsula and greatly improved flow through the kitchen.
Rich stained cabinetry adds warmth and character, while thoughtful construction details elevate the overall look. One standout feature is the alignment of door and drawer lines—enhanced by an extra-wide rail that creates clean, cohesive visual continuity throughout the cabinetry. The result is a rustic kitchen that feels open, intentional, and beautifully executed.
