From Cramped to Captivating
This transformed kitchen is proof that small spaces can make a big impact. The original 1990s layout was dark, cramped, and disconnected, with a peninsula that divided the room in half and limited both movement and storage. By reimagining the floor plan—without removing a single wall—the designer doubled the cabinet space, improved overall flow, and created an open, highly functional layout.
Showplace’s Channing door style in Gun Smoke paint brings a light, classic feel that avoids being overly stark, while a maple island in Cashew stain adds warmth and natural beauty. Coordinating floating shelves echo the island tone, tying the entire room together with a cohesive touch. Cabinets now extend to the ceiling for maximum storage, and a once-useless pantry closet now serves as a smart, functional nook with base cabinetry and open shelving.
A gray apron-front sink, black granite countertops, white subway tile, and under-cabinet lighting complete the fresh, high-end look. Thoughtful design, smart reconfiguration, and quality cabinetry turned this small kitchen into a beautiful and highly efficient everyday space.
