Gentle Greens & Timeless Charm
Designing this kitchen meant working thoughtfully within a compact footprint and navigating relatively low soffits, but those challenges ultimately led to some of the space’s most charming custom details.
To bring character and warmth into the design, the cabinetry features a brushed glaze. This finish adds depth and subtle texture, giving the kitchen a sense of history and personality. Paired with a custom green paint color and the beautiful natural variation of the Montana stain, the combination creates a soft yet visually rich palette.
Because of the low soffits, simply adding a filler panel above the refrigerator would have felt flat and uninspired. Instead, a custom arched valance backed with beadboard was designed to create a more intentional architectural feature. The result is a thoughtful focal point that elevates the entire wall while making the most of the available height.
Another priority for the homeowner was maintaining a clean, uncluttered countertop. To accomplish this, the coffee bar was designed to be concealed behind pocket doors. This smart solution keeps everyday appliances accessible while allowing the kitchen to maintain a streamlined, classic appearance when the doors are closed.
Despite the spatial limitations, the finished kitchen feels bright, welcoming, and full of personality; proof that thoughtful design and custom details can transform even the most challenging spaces.
