Craftsman Charm
The design journey for this stunning kitchen began with a vision to preserve the character of a 1920s Craftsman-style home while creating a modern haven for a stylish young family in a historic neighborhood. Green cabinets took center stage in our design palette, and gradually, the design team wove in elements like a stunning copper countertop, elegant brass hardware, Zellige tile, Torrey Pine floating shelves, and mixed metal appliances.
Reconfiguring the layout was essential to meet the homeowners’ daily needs. A large center island was desired, but there were obstacles like a centered bedroom entryway, a structural beam, and the need to retain a coat closet/pantry. Through meticulous planning, these challenges were turned into design opportunities. Beyond that, supply chain hiccups led to a delightful twist – a custom patinaed copper top for the coffee bar, adding a warm, inviting glow to the space.
The collaboration between the designer and the homeowners ensured the preservation of the home’s original character, enhanced by modern conveniences. Now they can enjoy the beautiful blend of old-world charm and contemporary living in this remarkable Craftsman transformation.
