Ready for Game Day

The homeowners wanted to upgrade the look of their basement to make it Game Day worthy. They had requested to maintain the current amount of storage in the basement and to make it feel cozy yet open; this was a challenge with their low ceilings.

To give the illusion of height to the room, the design team wanted to make the cabinets floating with as few touching the ceiling as possible, making it feel taller. To create a focal point in the bar area, they wrapped the floating black satin upper cabinets, including gray frosted lift-up doors, with contrasting three-inch-thick hickory floating shelves. They also cladded the large fireplace surround with tall cabinets that sat on top of the old fireplace hearth. A new electric fireplace was added just below the large screen tv, flanked with floating base cabinets and shelves.

The homeowners love how the basement turned out. Throughout the basement the use of textures is what keeps the eye moving around the room. This warm and inviting basement is ready to shine on the big Game Day.

This project won First Place in the Other Rooms category of the 2022 Design Contest.
