THE REST OF THE STORY ...
The homeowners' objective was to increase the storage from their 8 kitchen cabinets ... yes, 8!
The design team faced a variety of challenges: Removal of existing chimney, angled ceiling, different window heights, and floor height differences.
The team was able to remove the chimney, butting one cabinet up to the angle in the ceiling. Two lower base cabinets under the windows were added and the team was able to remove the floating floor and add new wood floor that matched the height of the existing wood floor.
The homeowners loved how much storage the design team was able to add AND that they have two sinks in a small kitchen!
The design team enjoyed the entire transition ... they loved this project!
The homeowners have a lovely home and this kitchen just tied the entire home together with the rest of the house.
COMMENTS FROM OUR JUDGES ...
You certainly made this kitchen much larger! Nice work!
I like how you lowered the counter and added more storage under the windows. It appears that you balanced it on either side.
Your colors flow very well!
Your floorplan shows a nice flow. It appears that you've maximized your storage and counter space.
You did a great job making a tight space feel more open!
It is a small space and the designer certainly made the most of the small space.
You did so well to create an uplifting design with a small space.
I love the out-of-the-box thinking with the main sink.
Love the light colors with the dark floors.
Great use of space and so much storage in unexpected places, like under the windows.
Great job creating a lot of storage in such a small space.
The design elements in this are great - making a focal point with the flanking top box cabinetry and centering the pendants on the range. There's a lot to this small kitchen!!
