Showplace Enhances Finish Lineup with Three New Earthy Stains

(HARRISBURG, SD) – Showplace Cabinetry announces the introduction of three new stains, inspired by the natural beauty of wood. Sable and Sparrow offer a rich and earthy feel, providing a unique and organic light brown tone. Buff is also a light brown stain emulating a neutral tone on quartersawn white oak.

New Products

“Lighter brown stains have been consistently trending in home design over the last couple of years and we wanted to add more options to our stain family to fit that need,” said Lisa Myers, at Showplace Cabinetry.

Warm and natural with organic elements, Sable features a red ever-so-slight undertone. As every wood species uniquely interprets Sable, wide variation in color exists between the species.

Warm, yet slightly cooler than Sable, Sparrow has a tan/taupe undertone. Sparrow is available on all Showplace wood species and celebrates variability between species as well.

Sable and Sparrow are both considered character stains which are meant to enhance the graining of the wood. Buff is an equalizer formula specifically crafted for quartersawn white oak which helps neutralize the natural yellow undertones. Each stain has been carefully crafted to ensure that it not only looks beautiful, but also complements a wide range of styles and tastes.

“We are thrilled to offer these beautiful new stains,” said Hannah Gebauer, Director of Marketing at Showplace Cabinetry. “Sable and Sparrow are similar depths but with warm and cool undertones, so designers and homeowners can choose which one fits their overall color palette better. Buff is a beautiful take on quartersawn white oak that our dealers have been asking for a stain with a little less yellow.”

Pampas Stain From Showplace

(HARRISBURG, SD) – Showplace Cabinetry is excited to launch their newest character stain: Pampas. The name and stain are inspired by the light and feathery nature of ornamental pampas grass. Pampas is light tan stain without overly warm undertones.

New Products

The creamy, light tan color is developed specifically for Quartersawn White Oak, although it will be available in Red Oak, Cherry, Maple, Hickory, Rustic Hickory, Rustic Alder and Straight Grains. Because it’s lighter in nature and a character stain, each species of wood uniquely interprets the finish, offering design and style flexibility.

“Pampas is a fantastic addition to our existing stain lineup.”

“Pampas is a fantastic addition to our existing stain lineup,” said Hannah Gebauer, Marketing Director. “It’s right in line with current interior design trends featuring light stains and White Oak, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking to design a clean and open space.”

“Our dealer network and consumers have been asking us to expand our stain collection to include lighter and cooler-toned stains,” said Lisa Myers, Product Development Manager. “There’s been this huge shift in interior design the last couple of years where people want natural elements and colors in their home. Pampas is developed to provide that light, natural wood tone without pulling too yellow or orange, allowing it to be extremely versatile to pair with paint, flooring, cabinetry hardware and other home elements.”

Product innovation and development is key as Showplace Cabinetry continues to grow and evolve. “Interior design trends and wood colors change fast,” said Myers. “Over the last 22 years since Showplace started building cabinets, we’ve seen blonde wood, golden oak, cherry reds, extremely dark stains, gray stains, black stains and now light stains are resurging again.”

With the addition of Pampas, Showplace now offers 25 stains on various wood species. Pampas will also be available in premium finish options like weathered and vintage. Providing no shortage of options for today’s homeowner to choose from in their next home project.

What is a Character Stain?

Some stains mute variations in wood – the darker the stain, the more variation is hidden. Character stains provide a rich, semi-translucent look accentuating the grain and variation found in natural wood. Try it with one of our Showplace specialty woods to make your eye-catching cabinetry all the more noticeable.

Give it Some Character

Add character stains to your cabinets and bring out the inherent variability, distinctive grain and unique personality of natural wood. This specially formulated finish is only available at Showplace, and for no extra cost.

Character vs. standard

How Grain Direction Affects Color

Notice from these images above that graining in character stains can affect the appearance of the color. This drawer header was placed vertically to compare with doors on the wall cabinet, then was turned horizontally to show how drawer fronts may not match the doors, even though they are technically the same color. This scenario is acceptable and is not considered a warranty issue.
